23–29 August 2025
For the first time, the German capital will host a series of events under the expressive main theme: “80 Years Since the End of the War – The Fate of Post-War Generations”.
The focus is on remembering the tragic trials faced after the war by Germans from Russia, late repatriates, displaced persons, and refugees – marked by deportation, flight, expulsion, discrimination, and loss of homeland.
The main aim of the Week of Collective Remembrance is to present the shared history of several generations clearly and vividly, based on verified facts, in a respectful and dignified setting for remembrance, exchange of views, and recognition of historical reality.
At the same time, the events will draw attention to problems that still exist today as a result of that period, and explore the opportunities and challenges of integration into modern society.
Participation in the Week of Collective Remembrance 2025 symbolises solidarity, a sense of responsibility, and a connection to the past, as well as engagement in solving present-day issues.
