The musical theatre production “Chanel vs Rubinstein” will premiere in Germany and Austria — a visually striking performance based on real historical events. For the first time, Ekaterina Varnava and Svetlana Ustinova share the stage, presenting a powerful story about iconic women of the 20th century.
At the heart of the play is the confrontation between two remarkable figures: Gabrielle Chanel and Ida Rubinstein. Their lives intertwine with the fate of Prince Dmitri Romanov, forming a layered narrative about love, ambition, and cultural influence.
Ekaterina Varnava portrays Ida Rubinstein — a legendary ballerina, muse of Sergei Diaghilev, and inspiration for Maurice Ravel’s “Boléro.” Svetlana Ustinova appears as Gabrielle Chanel — a fashion icon and creator of the iconic Chanel No. 5 fragrance.
The audience will experience key moments of the era:
— the creation of Chanel No. 5,
— the birth of the musical masterpiece “Boléro,”
— the dramatic clash of two powerful women,
